Extremely happy with cooker. Delivered quickly and arrived in excellent shape. This size is really for large group cooking...great for camp outs or off the grid. If you have a heat source to boil water you can cook with this. I made up my own recipe with fresh chicken, onion, garlic, celery, rice, noodles, macaroni, carrots, rutabega, mushrooms, bouillon cube, various spices, water and salt and pepper. I just cleaned out the fridgeThe only negative is that I have not found a lot of usable recipes to follow that work for my family....not a problem if you are creative and willing to test new made up concoctions. You can follow some regular crock pot recipes....but be willing to adjust and adapt to the cooker.

I bought this Thermos Shuttle Chef last Spring taking a deep breath because of the price and not knowing if it would live up to what I read on the web. It did and then some. Cooking with this is trouble-free. You bring whatever you need to cook to a boil, remove it from heat and place in the Thermos for whatever time is needed. After 5 hours, the temperature drop is about 25 Celsius. I no longer pre-soak dried beans; I just bring the pot with the rinsed beans to a boil with plenty of water, then leave it in the Thermos and forget about it for a few hours. Excellent for cooking grains (like rice or millet) ahead of time so it cooks while you're away without any stove burner on. And the food doesn't burn ...:o)No real need for a recipe book as one doesn't need to change one's cooking habits. We have taken it camping and on trips (saves restaurant costs).Well worth the investment. Warmly recommended.
