I bought this because I wanted something with a small profile that was totally leakproof and vacumn insulated. We all know the quality of vacumn insulation varies widely, so that remained a question mark until my mugs arrived. They literally do not let heat or cold escape, and will keep your coffee piping hot for hours, and your iced drink cold for longer than immaginable. I have tilted it, laid it on it's side, put scalding hot beverage in it and then put ice cubes in and it simply does not leak. At something just short of 7" tall it takes up very little room in a backpack or purse. There is little storage area under the top of the cap, which is big enough to hold a packet of sugar or splenda for your next hot cup. I love the fact that it takes regular size ice cubes with no problem fitting them through the opening.

I received this mug as a gift and it's been wonderful. It's very simply designed but does its job to perfection. There's just a screw top lid with a small compartment for a tea bag, sugar packet, or what have you. It keeps my tea piping hot for hours on end. The wide mouth is bonus for me because it makes it easier to blow on my drink to cool it before I take a sip. Also it makes it easier to drink from. I tend to have trouble with the common "sip-mouthed" coffee mugs that you find sold in every coffee shop. I take a sip and the coffee will somehow run down the side of the mug and stain my papers.I've seen the Zojirushi Tuff Slim and I actually prefer this mug's shorter stature. It's a little "chubby" (or wide), but definitely fits comfortably in a tote. I've never experienced a leak and I've put it in my purse a time or two.

I own both the Tuff Mug and the Tuff Slim and tend to find myself using the mug more often. It is easy to drink out of and the size and shape are comfortable (and cute). The storage compartment on the lid easily holds two bags of PG Tips tea. The care instructions warn against storing soup or other salty liquid in either of these bottles because the salt may promote rust (despite the nonstick coating and stainless steel construction). They also warn against storing dairy or fresh juice because "quality may deteriorate over time" and because gas may build up and splash out under pressure. Read the manuals for yourself at the Zojirushi web site. Mug is SM-ABE35 and Slim is SV-GEE50. [...]
